Reformer Pilates

Invented by Pilates founder Joseph Pilates, the reformer is a bed-like frame with a flat platform on it, this is called a carriage. You can sit, stand, lie or kneel on the carriage and move it against the resistance of springs using pulleys, the floor or other apparatus on the bed. It is versatile and therefore excellent for all abilities from those requiring very specific rehabilitation right through to the fittest who are looking a good workout.

Because of the way you move on the reformer it is excellent at promoting flexibility and strength in ways Mat work Pilates cannot. It is great fun and we are all excited to offer Wirral’s first Physio-led reformer classes.
